Your backup drive is not plugged in

This computer is set up to copy your files to a backup drive, but that drive is not connected. Nothing new is being copied until it is plugged back in.

You'll see this whenSavedSafe says File History has a "Drive missing".

Steps

  1. Find the backup drive that goes with this computer and plug it in.
  2. Click the Start button, type File History, and open it.
  3. Click "Run now" and wait for it to finish.
  4. If Windows cannot find the drive, click "Select drive" and choose it.
  5. Run SavedSafe again to make sure the problem is fixed.

Good to know

  • Put a note on the drive, such as "Backup for Mom's computer", so it does not get used for something else.
  • If the old drive is lost, use a new one and follow the Turn on File History guide.
Done? Run SavedSafe again. When everything is protected, the report turns green.
