Backup and Restore has stopped

Some computers use an older Windows backup tool called Backup and Restore (Windows 7). SavedSafe only mentions it when your computer has used it before and it has stopped.

You'll see this whenSavedSafe says "Backup and Restore (Windows 7)" has "Stopped".

Steps

  1. Make sure the backup drive is plugged in.
  2. Click the Start button, type Control Panel, and open it.
  3. Open "Backup and Restore (Windows 7)" and click "Back up now".
  4. Run SavedSafe again to make sure the problem is fixed.

Good to know

  • For new setups, File History is simpler and is the tool Microsoft recommends for personal files.
Done? Run SavedSafe again. When everything is protected, the report turns green.
